Lost AMD 6900xt, now in software rendering
I've been using Fedora for the last few years on a secondary machine with a gtx 1080, mostly for work. I've decided to make the jump on my primary system as well. through the setup process in getting things working, I ran into an issue with lm_sensors not detecting CPU temps, mobo voltages and fan speeds. It did of course detect the 6900xt and it's temps. After some research I found the monitoring chip model which lead me to github (https://github.com/Fred78290/nct6687d). I downloaded it and installed it per the instructions now I see what couldn't before for the motherboard, which is great.
- No CPU Temps with ryzen 5900X and msi b550 tomahawk
- Fedora 34 black ridge & a9x14 fan speed not deteced?

Thoughts/concerns on this build
There is a driver that if you follow the instructions, will make the fans and temp sensors work perfectly: https://github.com/Fred78290/nct6687d

laptop overheating
Can you tell if they spinning at all? I've had many fans just go bad over the years. You might try using lm-sensors to see if you get any helpful info from the OS.

Does Linux support sensors on new AM5 Asus X670E motherboards ?
The sensors are, as of now, not supported. ASUS uses a new Nuvoton NCT6799D-R chip to communicate the sensor data, for which there seems to be no driver in the Kernel yet. There is a bugreport on lm-sensors: https://github.com/lm-sensors/lm-sensors/issues/416

https://github.com/lm-sensors/lm-sensors did you follow these instructions also? I feel like the im-sensors was an important step.
