You can find public remote nodes from https://monero.fail or by searching with search engine. If you know someone trustworthy running a public node, you might want to use that one.

You can add a node from https://monero.fail/ to bootstrap the initial syncing process. This allows you to verify and send funds before your local node is fully synced

i control this server but can't reproduce. we also have node2.monerodevs.org:38089 (both have rpc bans disabled, but maybe there was a mistake) , can you double check that you can see node.monerodevs.org:38089/get_info , or if you dont have the issue with other stagenet nodes @ monero.fail ?

Nearly 2h XMR sent from Kraken to my Wallet GUI and still nothing
If you were using a remote node before, you'll want to use a new one. monero.fail is my favorite place to find remote nodes.

If you just misspell one word of 25 the check word won't be right and there should be an error message. Any random set of seed words (with the correct check word) will be a valid wallet address, however accidentally getting a valid check word is unlikely. If you are not using 25 seed words this issue might be relevant: https://github.com/monero-project/monero-gui/issues/1326
