what is the best/easiest way to render text as image with ruby on rails?
You'd probably be best using imagemagick, https://github.com/minimagick/minimagick for example would allow you to create an image that is just some text. There are a bunch of tutorials across the net on how to pass commands into imagemagick to do this.

Rszr is an image resizer for Ruby based on the Imlib2 library. It is faster and consumes less memory than MiniMagick, GD2 and VIPS, and comes with an optional drop-in interface for Rails ActiveStorage image processing.
