No separation between guests and registered customers, so there is a hijack issue which can only be protected against by forcing customers to confirm their email.

There should be a decent amount of available plugins/modules, eg shipping carriers, payment providers, etc. for the EU (so eg no Maropost Commerce or Sylius).

While not Laravel, I'd check out https://sylius.com/. Very clean platform built with Symfony. It's in the front-running for our next build and we expect our time to launch to be cut in half from Magento builds.
