How to improve my Rust workflow?
Another alternative I'll add is my mask CLI tool. It reads a markdown file and parses it for a command structure. Markdown code blocks are used to define bash/zsh/python/ruby/node scripts all within a single file.

I also build and maintain a Rust-based CLI tool called mask. While this doesn't run in production, it powers everything from my local development workflow to my CI and production deployment flow.

Rust Foundation: Hello, World
I mentioned elsewhere in this thread that I built a jigsaw puzzle website [1] with a Rust API backend and I launched it last week. It definitely took longer than if I had used Node, but I enjoy working with Rust much more.
Apart from that website, I have also open sourced a Rust CLI task runner [2] which uses markdown files as a command definition format. This is probably the most important tool I've ever written, as I have used it every single day since.

At the top level, there are three things: the server directory, the UI directory, and a maskfile.md file for using mask. Mask is a great tool for running scripts on your project. I use it all the time.

Consuming an SQS Event with Lambda and Rust
A small note on the Rust AWS SDK. It is currently in Developer Preview. However, the project's latest README indicates that it's production-ready, but not production-supported. More of a use-at-your-own-risk type of thing. At this point, I personally would be comfortable shipping with it, but I know that some might prefer something that is marked production-ready. If you want to explore another AWS SDK, rusoto might be for you. However, I imagine the SDK will go GA soon. That's a hunch and NOTHING official. I am not speaking for AWS here.

Rust for a mobile backend service
For AWS, there is both the new official SDK preview (https://github.com/awslabs/aws-sdk-rust), and the older unofficial one (https://github.com/rusoto/rusoto). I've not used the new one, but rusoto was excellent when I used it a few years ago.

There's an draft PR to fix this, but it seems to have stalled.

And if the "preview" bit turns you off, Rusoto still works perfectly well and is mature (but in maintenance mode)
