Keyboard won't control Music app if Youtube in Safari is open
Found this article which suggests Mac Media Key Forwarder or BeardedSpice.
-
Does anyone know if this key pauses sound coming from all open app? Because for me, it only mutes the focused app but ignores Spotify running in the background. Is this the intended behavior?
Try this. It works great to tie that key to Apple music. Says it works for Spotify too.

Unix legend Ken Thompson announces he's switching From macOS To Raspberry Linux
I don't know the exact issues but might be related to the issues why I left Apple : I was developing a very successful little tool for MacOS ( https://github.com/milgra/macmediakeyforwarder ) which listened for keypresses. From 2016 to 2019 it became harder and harder to install it because apple added more and more restrictions to apps like this. By 2019, you had to enable the application explicitly to listen for events at least in three places deep down in the system preferences, click accept in various popups and if you stuck somewhere then nobody could tell why it wasn't working. So I had a very expensive laptop and the OS didn't let me use it freely. So I just switched to freebsd and linux, I don't have fancy productivity apps like photoshop and final cut but with open source tools and with my own desktop applications I created the best looking/most usable desktop experience MacOS will never have. Make play/pause button default to music player?
Hello! Try Mac Media Key Forwarder I use it for the exact same reason.
- How do I stop headphone bluetooth controls starting / stopping media in Chrome / Safari and force them to only work with Apple Music / Spotify?
-
Discussion Thread
I like this app for fixing it. https://github.com/milgra/macmediakeyforwarder
- Is there an app to explicitly set, which app uses the play pause buttons on the keyboard?
-
Lock keyboard media keys to Apple Music, is there an app for this?
Here you go, I'm on an M1 MacBook Air 2020 and this works perfectly for me. It's called "Mac Media Key Forwarder"

Recommendation for macOS app that will increase the experience on macOS ?
Media Key Forwarder: lets you pause iTunes/Apple Music/Spotify when you hit the pause button. Apple, for unknown insane reasons, changed the pause button to pause front-loaded media instead of background music when I actually want to pause background music because I now want to watch something.

How to keep media keys fixed to the Music app with macOS Monterey?
I dislike the way how the media keys work on macOS by default. I used to use this app (https://github.com/milgra/macmediakeyforwarder) with previous versions of macOS, but it's no longer supported and its recommended replacement 'Bearded Spice' doesn't work on my computer. Is there another way to make those media keys work just for the music app?

DietPi released a new version 9.1
DietPi is a lightweight Debian based Linux distribution for SBCs and server systems, with the option to install desktop environments, too. It ships as minimal image but allows to install complete and ready-to-use software stacks with a set of console based shell dialogs and scripts.
The source code is hosted on GitHub: https://github.com/MichaIng/DietPi

Considerations for a long-running Raspberry Pi
That's a good point, but the array of devices supported by the DietPi team is extensive: https://dietpi.com/

The Orange Pi 5
Before someone starts the usual yadda yadda about the RPi biger community, the OS not having long time support etc. I would repeat one more time: do not rely on board vendor supplied images; this is valid for pretty much all boards. Just go to Armbian or DietPi pages and you'll almost certainly find one or more images that work on your board and forums to discuss about them with very knowledgeable people.

Those projects are well worth a contribution, as they don't have a giant like Broadcom behind them.

OpenWrt One/AP-24.XY: new open source router board by OpenWrt and Banana Pi
> bananapi do a lot of boards but their software story has been a bit poor
This is quite common with other board manufacturers too. I'd rather suggest to ignore completely their cobbled together distros, often also tainted by proprietary modifications, that become unmaintained in a few years, and see if they're among the many supported by Armbian or DietPi.

Looking for a way to remote in to K's of raspberry pi's...
RPi OS = diet pi https://dietpi.com/ - initial config via text file - SDcard burning out partially mitigated as writes log files to ram then flushes to SDcard reducing write cycles

Laptop so slow that even XFCE is laggy. What distro could run better?
You could also try very minimalistic distros like TwisterUI or DietPi which are most known for their use in the RasprebbyPi / SBC computers but which also have editions for desktop / laptop.
