I'm not sure why the plugin is closed-source, IIRC the dev has plans to open it at some point. the bits that do the network reading and packet decoding are open source: https://github.com/ravahn/machina

There's a few of them I believe but I personally use FFLogsViewer. No reason in particular, just the first one I downloaded and it seems to work well enough.
