ly VS ly-void

So I'm looking to change from SDDM to Ly. I'm using the Sway Fedora spin. How do I do this seemlessly so that my system continues to work correctly?

I prefer ly, because it's simple.

Display manager I'm using ly that should launch Qtile via the desktop entry residing at /usr/share/wayland-sessions/qtile-wayland.desktop, using qtile- start -b wayland.

I made a pull request some time ago ( https://github.com/fairyglade/ly/pull/479). In some places the tty was hardcoded and it didn't read it from the /etc/ly/config.ini file.

I installed ly display manager in Fedora 37 following the instructions provided in their github page. I disabled the gdm service by sudo systemctl disable gdm.service and enabled ly service with sudo systemctl enable ly.service.

In general, it's tough to go too wrong, and with a good display manager you should be able to switch between them painlessly for experimenting with. (I like ly for a minimal setup!)

I've tried to make some other DMs work, except from SDDM and greetd. I see a bunch of packages done by enthusiasts but I don't find any example usage. Like there was a ly(https://github.com/fairyglade/ly) pakage out there but I don't know how it should work.

I was try to install the ly display manager after freshly installing arch. I installed git, and after attempting to do the command $ git clone --recurse-submodules https://github.com/fairyglade/ly

I actually just got ly working on void! be sure you clone latest with `--recurse-submodules`. be sure you install `base-devel xauth xorg-devel pam-devel xorg-minimal libxcb-devel`. then take the makefile and res/ly-runit-service/* from https://github.com/drozdowsky/ly-void. then run `make` and `sudo make install`

After building & installing ly demonstrate manager (https://github.com/nullgemm/ly) i can't‏‏‎‏‏‎‏‏‎‏‏‎­seem to start it as there is no entry in /etc/sv to start. I then came across this: https://github.com/drozdowsky/ly-void. A build of ly that supports runit & sure enough it has a service to start however when i restart my pc and ly display manager starts, even with the right credentials it does not log in, only turning off my monitor for a moment then booting back into the display manager screen. This is the case for starting my window manager, starting my .xinitrc however it can successfully start the shell. Any help would be greatly appreciated to either start the official build, or to correct the modified one.

I'm attempting to install ly-void, a fork of the ly display manager for voidlinux. However, after I clone the repo and type make github I get an error, make: *** No rule to make target 'github'. Stop.

I haven't really had trouble with Ly on Arch (systemd). Gentoo's OpenRC seemed to cause some issues for me, but ly is built to be system-agnostic so I have no idea. This fork seems to fix some issues (Void is also an OpenRC init). https://github.com/drozdowsky/ly-void

What DM are you using? I tried to compile both ly-void and normal ly according to this guide.

I recently installed the LY login manager but for void from this guide here: https://github.com/drozdowsky/ly-void. After doing so, when rebooting my PC it takes me to LY but when I try to log in, if the info is correct it just says logged out and doesn’t let me in. I have it installed alongside SwayWM. Is there any way I can get back into the system to fix this issue or am I screwed? Thanks.
