Luajit is almost stop development, what will be neovim’s future?
And Neovim is using OpenResty's branch of Luajit
-
Fengari – Lua for the Browser
Yea, LuaJIT can get near C speeds, as far as I'm aware. You can read more here: https://luajit.org/luajit.html

Could someone clarify Raylib for me?
I also found this gtihub repo, this one is using luaJIT a just in time lua compiler, i dont know if you have any python expirience but this one, but from what i understand luaJIT makes lua a language that can be compiled and run in your terminal, it aperently also has a comminty made package/library manager called cherry.
-
What's the state of LuaJIT these days?
openresty's LuaJIT2 has, and makes, regular releases (the last one was less than a month ago), and closely tracks development, including the extensions beyond Lua 5.1.
-
Open letter to core vim developers and vim community
There is also the openresty fork of luajit which Neovim can be built with and provides their own releases.

What is the benefit of writing plugins in Lua rather than any other language?

Where to start on making a game engine
Remember, bad C++ code will certainly be slower than good code written in an interpreted language! That being said, Lua is very fast, one of the fastest scripting languages. See this thread, which talks about LuaJit.
-
Why LuaJIT's interpreter is written in assembly
https://github.com/openresty/luajit2
It has a few extras but they agree with the original luajit authors opinion that not every 5.2 feature can be made in jit.

alternatives to the javascript ecosystem
That said, there are ways to embrace the JS ecosystem without actually using JavaScript. Many popular languages have transpilers that will convert code written in that particular language into something that will run natively in a web browser (in other words, JavaScript). Even TypeScript is a language that gets transpiled into JavaScript, so it's not that outrageous of a concept, it just gets more difficult to do the further you get away from languages that don't already look like JavaScript.

Vanilla+PostCSS as an Alternative to SCSS
As a front-end web developer, do you still use CoffeeScript or jQuery? Unlikely, as TypeScript, ES/TC39 and Babel (and the retirement of Internet Explorer thanks to @codepo8 and his EDGE team) have helped to transform JavaScript into some kind of a modern programming language.

Why React isn't dying
On the other hand, companies choose React because that's where all the developers are. If you want to build something that can be maintained years from now, you better not choose the next hype train that goes straight to nowhere (remember CoffeeScript ?). You want something battle tested that has stood the test of time, where you won't have trouble finding developers to scale once you need to. And nobody ever got fired for choosing React.
