Automatically donate to open-source maintainers using bitcoin
If you don't have a bitcoin wallet yet, try https://getalby.com/ WIP, so feedback wanted! Let's make lightning the standard for funding open-source software. Lets orange pill all the devs, as devs run the world.
- How to get a permanent LNURL to use for eg. receiving tips?
-
Unable to create Lightning wallet
Or you can use Alby to throw in there. That’s what I use as my BlueWallet Lightning Wallet. Until BlueWallet comes back out with there Lightning Node. Alby works well!
-
what extension do i need to manage nostr keys in firefox?
getalby.com

Well known LN node to connect to?
lnbits.com or getalby.com allow you to use BlueWallet lightning wallet interface. They are custodial, so you could always use a different custodial lightning wallet or a non-custodial one instead.

Who knows of any HWWs that can create BIP85 child seeds and Nostr keys, both derived directly from my ₿ seed on an HWW, as the Passport Foundation wallet has done?
Nostr Signing Extensions Use these when using web apps to avoid giving them your keys. nos2x – Nostr Signer Extension for Chrome nos2x-fox – Nostr Signer Extension for Firefox Alby – Lightning wallet with Nostr integration Flamingo – Nostr Signer Extension for Chrome Nostore – Signing extension for Safari on iOS (TestFlight)

Nostros and Lightning Wallets
I use Alby (http://getalby.com) as wallet and nip-07 extension. So I don't need to type My nsec anymore, just login with the browser extension

Lightning invoice
Who is your lightning node provider? BlueWallet did away with there node and left us to figure it out. (I think 🤔) but I use Alby and hit receive and it really doesn’t say “receive with amount” it just has a blue zero and your expected to type in your value. Then hit the “create invoice “ button. When I do this it generates the code and I tap it which copies it. I paste into breeez and it accepts it just fine. So like I ask… what are you using for the lightning wallet in side of BlueWallet? (Please don’t think I’m asking you in a dumb way either… I just found out how to get my lightning wallet up in BlueWallet literally 3 hours before I saw your post)

A Look at Bluesky
There are some activitypub apps that support nomadic identity like HubZilla and Streams: https://codeberg.org/streams/streams
Another non-activitypub alternative is nostr, where you identity is a public/private key pair: https://github.com/aljazceru/awesome-nostr

For now the biggest clients are twitter-like clients. A few popular ones are Damus (ios), Nostros (android) or iris (desktop). You can find a bigger list of projects and relays here: https://github.com/aljazceru/awesome-nostr

Asking third-party reddit app devs to consider Lemmy after recent Reddit API changes. (Not just Apollo) + New Lemmy Migration initiative under works.
Nostr seems really cool but regarding nvote it is listed as deprecated in the nostr implementations list and if you look at its commit history it seems pretty dead, with the last commit in Jan, a bunch of them in December and then nothing all the way back to the start of 2022... Also, it is listed as deprecated in part because a user's private key is handled server side, which invalidates a lot of the advantages of nostr.

📣 Had a call with Reddit to discuss pricing. Bad news for third-party apps, their announced pricing is close to Twitter's pricing, and Apollo would have to pay Reddit $20 million per year to keep running as-is.

Nostr (“Notes and Other Stuff Transmitted by Relays.” – An Introduction
https://www.nostr.net maintains a list of all known clients. I am a bit partial to astral, though it is resource intensive. You could try coracle, snort, or iris to see if they're more your fancy.

What is Damus and how do I think it?
In addition, it should be noted that Damus is not the only product based on nostr. More related products can be found at this link.
