GTK4 Matrix Client
A PR was merged recently to make reading encrypted messages in libquotient (the lib used by both Quatermion and NeoChat). Another one is in the work to send encrypted messages.

Element (Matrix chat app) suspended in the Play Store

I'm currently working on encryption support in the base library: https://github.com/quotient-im/libQuotient/pull/443 and once this is done the other big missing feature are notifications.

I use Telegram FOSS. They refuse to use firebase for notifications, so I forever have a message in my drawer that leads to this link:

Last update from Telegram-FOSS was in May. There are other clients in F-Droid, maybe you can try them?
