software for SK6812 RGBW led's
I have bought 2 rolls of LEDs a power supply and a raspberry pi zero w. I have soldered everything together and I have put de led data input on gpio pin 18 on my raspberry but I can't find any software to run my LEDs I have 2 meters and 288 LEDs running on 5v. If someone could find/make/help me make software to control the LEDs I would appreciate it very much. I am not someone who can code so I cannot write it myself and I also tried this : https://jackw01.github.io/led-control/

Have a ton of this RGB LED Rope but I’m unsure how to power and control it. Any help would be much appreciated.
The SK6812B is also called a "neopixel". Every LED on the strip is individually controllable. I use projects like https://github.com/cpldcpu/light_ws2812 and https://github.com/jackw01/led-control/ to control them.

On June 12th, 2023, /r/DetroitRedWings will go dark to protest the changes being made to Reddit's API calls
The NHL has an API also for example. So an example of how you could use that is this project https://github.com/riffnshred/nhl-led-scoreboard. I have this scoreboard running in my living room. The computer powering the scoreboard is constantly asking the NHL API "hey what's the score of the wings game" and "who scored" and a bunch of other things. The NHL API returns that data to my computer and then my computer renders that information in a scoreboard.

Gifting a PI powered project, what's the easiest way for the recipient to change the WIFI settings?
I used the NHL Scoreboard Library with an adafruit RGB shield connect to the GPIO pins. The NHL library uses the API directly from the NHL app so the scores are basically updated instantly. Everything was built on an existing MLB library designed to do the same thing. The library supports the 32x64 matrix out of the box so there’s nothing fancy I had to do there.

For fun, what is the most fun, basically useless, home automation thing you have set up?
So I actually have one of these: https://github.com/riffnshred/nhl-led-scoreboard, and I just added my own script for when a goal is scored.

Live scoreboard showing NHL scores.

I custom built an F1 results board to display 2021 season data!
For those interested in MLB or NHL versions of something similar, it's not too difficult with a bit of Linux knowledge. I used the hardware the MLB version suggested and loaded both MLB and NHL software on my Pi to switch between the two. There are apparently Premier League, NBA and NFL versions as well though I've not yet tried either (I'll be trying NFL and Premier League in a few months though).

My dad and I built a frame for the scoreboard we programmed! It cycles through the entire MLB and shows all the games scores. It updates in real time too.
