kubo VS ransack

There are a few client options; the most widely used one (to my knowledge) is https://github.com/ipfs/kubo for CLI. There's also a desktop client that's pretty nice: https://docs.ipfs.tech/install/ipfs-desktop/

I'd like to point out that you probably cloned https://github.com/ipfs/kubo there, which is only one part of what accounts for the "IPFS codebase". If you want to find out the actual LoC, I'm afraid you will need to dig through https://github.com/ipfs/kubo/blob/master/go.mod and pick everything that's https://github.com/ipfs/*.

I post a lot about IPFS, I was using the 'ipfs mount' to virtually offer my entire collection from my NAS (on a private 'swarm' of course) to the remote stations.

Yeah, there are quite a few issues with the PubSub mechanism nowadays. Regarding the deprecation, there have been a few updates over the last few days on https://github.com/ipfs/kubo/issues/9717

You might be looking for something like Ransack - https://github.com/activerecord-hackery/ransack

I use ransack for this and find it very powerful and flexible without the need to rely on complex JS.

For especially complicated cases, you can consider learning how to create custom predicates and Ransackers - extensions that convert parameters directly into Arel (internal library ActiveRecord, used to build SQL queries).

You can use gems like Ransack to build search forms much faster, but for the purpose of learning and performance we will be building this feature ourselves. Throughout the process, you will also learn how to customize Rails default pluralization. By the end, we will be able to search for Pokemon by name, type, and region.
