I know Java well enough to solve LC problems, experience with JUnit and JavaFX. Can you recommend something that would help me learn about Spring Boot in building "full stack web apps with APIs".
Finally, once you finish most of these tutorials, I recommend you taking a look at gothinkster/realworld, specifically taking a look at React + Redux for the frontend and Spring Boot + Spring Data JPA.

How to connect backend and frontend
Hello. I'm a complete newbie and I stumbled upon this "gothinkster realworld" thing. Apparently I can take any frontend, I chose (this one) and backend, (this one ) and they should work with each other, I can get both projects running individually but I can't understand exactly how I'm supposed to connect them.

Are there real-world apps that are built with react where I could see the codebase? As a beginner, I would love to understand how far away my knowledge is from building something real.
However although their React+Redux example is perhaps the most popular one, it's not currently maintained. Instead, this maintained fork is recommended on their list. It's not in TypeScript, which today's projects should normally use, but I guess it's OK for beginner to study

How to optimise React Apps?
React has introduced measures like batching state updates, background concurrent rendering and memoization to tackle this. My opinion is that the best way to solve the problem is by improving their reactivity model. The app needs to be able to track the code that should be re-run on updating a given state variable and specifically update the UI corresponding to this update. Tools like solid.js and svelte work in this manner. It also eliminates the need for a virtual DOM and diffing.

Episode 24/13: Native Signals, Details on Angular/Wiz, Alan Agius on the Angular CLI
Similarly to Promises/A+, this effort focuses on aligning the JavaScript ecosystem. If this alignment is successful, then a standard could emerge, based on that experience. Several framework authors are collaborating here on a common model which could back their reactivity core. The current draft is based on design input from the authors/maintainers of Angular, Bubble, Ember, FAST, MobX, Preact, Qwik, RxJS, Solid, Starbeam, Svelte, Vue, Wiz, and more…
