Thoughts on improving security of Neovim plugins
WASM is not related to JavaScript in any way, it's just a formal definition (see the spec) for a bytecode and a VM that executes it. One of the problems that WASM tries to solve for web development is to get away from JS because it's such a mess. It's unfortunate that WASM has "Web" in its name, as it's rally not just for Web: there are many embedded runtimes, for example, popular proxy server Envoy supports WASM for writing filters (aka extensions) and there's even WASM runtime for the Linux kernel.

Helix: a post-modern text editor
Wasm started in the web, but has since been ported even to the Linux kernel [0]. It seems perfect for situation where you near machine code levels of performance, but don't want to carry different binaries for different CPU architectures - exactly what you want from a plugin system. It also allows far greater isolation than "real" compiled code.

We Have to Start Over: From Atom to Zed
It was onivim2. Iirc it was a one-man show, and stopped when funding dried up. I also hoped to see a a lot from it. Maybe the dev took too much work on his plate, with an unproven language with limited libraries?

VSCode with Neovim
It's MIT licensed now, so anyone could pick it up and continue work on it, but the original authors have basically stopped working on it. This GitHub issue was the last major news update.

HypeScript: Simplified TypeScript's type system in TypeScript's own type system
I never tried CoffeeScript since nobody pays me for it, though I am curious about ReasonML as an alternative, there's a Neovim front-end[0] coded in Reason that compiles natively[1], and supports existing VS Code plugins from the VSCodium plugin repository[2] which I still have yet to look at how the heck they pulled that bit off, but it is pretty interesting.
