But having checked clients for other platforms they are not made with Qt. You can check them all here: https://telegram.org/apps

p.s. i am also considering using c++, to try writing an extension of the source that implements the feature in a certain way, could you advise on how complex would this been?

In secret chat, you can't take any screenshot which can't be happened if it's implemented on Desktop app. That's the reason Telegram hasn't implemented the feature on its desktop versions. But that notification thing should be considered I guess… Someone should open an issue regrading it on it's GitHub repo.

And that's why I'm using Unigram on Windows: it runs in a sandbox.

There's Unigram if you're on Windows, which better integrates with the look of Windows itself

You can actually get desktop E2E on Windows through Unigram. However, then the E2E gets locked to that PC and can only live on that machine for its lifespan.

As a middle ground you can install the Unigram app. Which is an open source alternative to telegram.

It's third-party UWP app, but it's open-source and listed on official Telegram website, so it's safe.

In addition, there’s a libpurple plugin should one feel want to use Telegram with Pidgin, as well as several other clients including one that’s TUI based.

The choice of client is a massive boon. It’s unfortunate that one can’t use a alternative Signal clients, because they’d likely solve many of the gripes people have with Signal.
