Best compiler to write .nes cartridge ROMs for testing my own emulator?
If you really want to use it, I have a bad 65816 assembler at https://github.com/raddad772/jsmoo/blob/main/component/cpu/wdc65816/wdc65816_assembler.js . Just don’t switch it to 65816 mode and it should produce compatible code. I wrote it as a pile of hacks on top of each other and you still need to add an iNES header.

- Snes, Nes, GameBoy and A26 emulator.

Trouble with GB Joypad Input
If you want to really verify your CPU, check out https://github.com/raddad772/jsmoo/tree/b3807b55f03cdad2191810b2a770781d73c41870/misc/tests/GeneratedTests/sm83 , a set of 1000 tests per opcode, cycle by cycle, including read and write bus activity, in JSON format. It’s a bit of work to integrate them but there’s no better CPU test. Also you can generate more if you want to by using the code generation portion of the codebase. The only thing it doesn’t really test well is IRQ/halt stuff. It’s pretty common for folks to pass Blargg and still have things uncovered here. Usually things Blargg can’t test, or symmetric errors (flag both set and tested wrong), or corner cases Blargg didn’t think of.

Pokémon emulators
You mean emulators running on PC? It took some doing, but I finally got DS Download Play to work on MelonDS. First you need to get DS firmware files. I found one on Retrostic that did not work for me. Melon told me it was an old hacked dump, and trying to boot it just got me a white screen. I found another on the Internet Archive that works.

I feel like people put down MelonDS too much here
MelonDS is actually doing a lot of really cool stuff. I can't speak too much on the Android build, but on PC they have actually gotten multiplayer too work flawlessly and they are currently working on implementing netplay. You can keep up with their progress here

Hi, new to emulators. I had a question, can I run gba and nds games on this?
no, you can use mGBA for GBA games, and MelonDS for NDS games

How do I turn source code to a release?
If you are on Windows you will need to install MSYS2 and this will make the process easier (which is why that's how they build it like that). Once installed open it and do: - pacman -S git (update git in MSYS2 with pacman) and then build the standalone execultable - git clone https://github.com/melonDS-emu/melonDS (clone inside the MSYS2 environment) - cd melonDS go into the folder and copy paste the last commands in the Static Builds section a few lines bellow

DeSmuME or melonDS for PC. Those are the two best ones out there. Mobile devices have nothing good at the moment, though.

Problem with Cmake when building melonDS from Github (Could NOT find X11 (missing: X11_X11_INCLUDE_PATH) )
- I followed the step of the melonDS Github under "Linux" for archlinux : https://github.com/melonDS-emu/melonDS
- melonDS with built-in improvements added specifically for 358/2 Days (minimap, gauge progress in pause screen, widescreen hack, analog controlling the camera)
