I personally am working on an cross platform (linux/windows) overlay for Guild Wars 2 (MMO game). I usually get the pid of the gw2 process from shared memory called MumbleLink, and then iterate over all gui apps to find which of them have the same pid. you can look at the source to see how i do it https://github.com/coderedart/jokolay/blob/master/src/jokolink/mumble_backend/linux.rs
