What stops potential iota ( DAG) competitors and copy cats?
They can’t do this. The Iota Foundation uses the Apache 2.0 License on the majority of their repositories. Read the third point Grant of Patent License.

Yes, for now Rust, Node.js and Python, we have seperate libraries as well for Go and C; Java is being worked on but not available yet. See the bindings folder here for more details: https://github.com/iotaledger/iota.rs
