Is there a rust crate for extracting a thumbnail from a jpg?
It won't spit out one automatically, you will still have to write the code yourself, but the example given with the repo has a snippet doing something similar: https://github.com/paolobarbolini/img-parts/blob/main/examples/image-rs/src/main.rs

Image compression app
Could be based on caesium-clt I guess. Currently, I'm using this tool from Termux and sometimes PhotocZip which isn't FOSS but has no ads.
What are some alternatives?
vtkio - Visualization ToolKit (VTK) file parser and writer
image-shrinker-lite - Drag-and-drop image compression app.
exif-rs - Exif parsing library written in pure Rust
caesium-image-compressor - Caesium is an image compression software that helps you store, send and share digital pictures, supporting JPG, PNG, WebP and TIFF formats. You can quickly reduce the file size (and resolution, if you want) by preserving the overall quality of the image.
sitewriter - A rust library to generate sitemaps.
py-image-compressor - Efficient and expeditious software designed for the swift compression, conversion, and resizing of multiple images simultaneously.
mp4-rust - MP4 reader + writer library in Rust! 🎥🦀
php-image-resize
s2png - Store any data in PNG images
Crunch - Insane(ly slow but wicked good) PNG image optimization
exiftool-rs - Image metadata scrubber written in Rust.
mp4rs - :movie_camera: MP4 reader and writer library in Rust! 🦀 [Moved to: https://github.com/alfg/mp4-rust]
