Project Description: It's a tool for thought, browser, note-taking application with inspiration from: Roam Research, Obsidian, SigmaOS, Chrome etc. I'm trying to have a all-in-one browser where I don't have to leave to do anything. Everything should be done inside the browser.

Testing help: Anyone who has a non-linux, non-windows machine would be of great help because I need to fix the small bugs still.

It's a Collaborative "Second Brain" or Zettelkasten, it's local by default but you can sync your brain with other people. Still in aplha. The local version is free and the collaborative one will cost per sync. So if you only want to use the local version then its ok.

What's you life work?

What is it that you're working on, be it an area, company, game, language, subject, cause etc. That you expect to work until the end of your life?

Starting with me it's a little bit hard. I have so many interests that picking a single one out of all of them is hard. But I plan on working on companies, causes, philosophies, books, areas etc.

Some of the areas I'm interested in are: Intelligence, IQ, Collective Intelligence, Knowledge Management, Writing, Sleep, Comics, AI, Game Design, Meta Cognition, Zettelkasten, Linguistics, Design, Coordination etc.

If you want to quickly check out, I'm working on a tool that works using a "generic" filesystem/files/folders to build a note-taking app, so even if you stop using the app, your stuff is still there in a normal format that can be extended with something like vim, Emacs, Sublime, VSCode, ??? etc.

I've experienced similar frustrations with notetaking apps.

I'm now working on a tool similar to "Obsidian, Logseq and Dendron".

It came as a frustration of previous tools(I've used ALL of them). They're either not flexible enough, not light enough, not powerful enough, not portable enough etc.

It combines both studying/references. So it's a flashcard(I don't user Supermemo algo tho) + Notetaking. It's also built on a standard so you can develop commandline/mobile/toaster app that is compatible.

the premise of this article is false. acreom [1] is VC backed, and doesn’t implement any of the mentioned practices. No price subsidising (quite the opposite), no pressure to create lock-in or monetize user data etc. There’s nothing wrong with being VC backed given the expectations between investors, the team and users are aligned.

Keycheck is an open-source web app that lets you quickly find consistent and conflict-free shortcuts for your app. Currently featuring over 100 apps, and 1400 shortcuts.

When designing keyboard shortcuts for our main app - acreom (https://acreom.com/), we wanted to create a great keyboard user experience. This involves designing shortcuts which are easy to hit, easy to remember, and do not clash with the system shortcuts. We have learned that there’s no reason to reinvent the wheel and it’s easier to follow conventions from other popular apps to achieve this. Finding this out, however, was frustrating, and involved lots of manual work of downloading and signing in to other apps.

We decided to solve this problem and open-source our solution to help other makers in the process of designing shortcuts. You can match any key combination against combinations of other apps, search shortcuts by their keybinds, descriptions, or by app, and explore the apps and see their shortcuts. Feel free to play around and explore all the possibilities.

The code is fully open-sourced (https://github.com/Acreom/keycheck) and contributions are welcome! If you are a maker, feel free add your app to help other makers and increase visibility for your own project.

with the steep learning curve of setting it up followed by the never ending UX complexities emacs seems like it's for people who get satisfaction of spending time setting things up rather than being effective. A modern alternative of this is Notion.

On the contrary, for people who care about getting stuff done with a capture-first organize-later interface that works out of the box like an iPhone, options are limited.
