If all you're trying to do is make the lights turn off when you hit play and turn off when you hit pause, you're going to have to involve other ingredients. There are lots of different approaches to make this work. One is using Kodi or Plex for playback, with a plug-in like this: https://github.com/mpolednik/script.kodi.hue.ambilight Of course then you are limited to using those apps for playback if you want the light status to sync.
