Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

Better yet would be to use spotifyd for this. I tried to set this up with my RPi a while ago but was defeated by Linux audio. Instead I just bought a Sonos. Oh, well.

Eh, yeah, just looked into how that works, and spotify-tui just does the Web API requests; they recommended the official client or spotifyd as the streaming backend.

My phone doesn't have any app installed which would probably be required so you can measure/estimate the distance to an arbitrary BT device. At the moment it's a simple Spotify integration playing music using Spotifyd on the Pi connected to my audio mixer.

You could use an an unofficial client, for example: - Spot (GTK, can stream directly) - spotify-qt (QT, just a Spotify connect frontend, so you need something like spotifyd running) - spotify-tui (terminal, again just a Spotify connect frontend) - spotifyd (daemon that is controlled via Spotify connect)
