Reminder that we're all united in GNU. The real cope and seethe is and will always be on wincucks.
Yeah rust doesn't have any practical applications, it's mostly just a meme for aesthetically-motivated programmers who barely know what they're doing and want to make the most nonsense bloated soyware imaginable. See: https://github.com/mTvare6/hello-world.rs

after a launch on Reddit, the project only got 2 stars on GitHub. How is that even possible? The answer is the README isn’t flashy enough.
https://github.com/mTvare6/hello-world.rs - 2,700 stars

A suckless RSS reader, finally
> Somehow Rust forces you to have colorful terminal output? Rust is high overhead? You can't strive for simplicity and write in Rust?
This was more of a sarcastic reference to https://github.com/mTvare6/hello-world.rs

Does anyone knows a reader that accepts custom scripts to parse the feed?
feed2imap-go has the possibility to use custom scripts/snippets. But it does not have a UI and uploads the items as mails.

A suckless RSS reader, finally
I move between machines a lot, and so gave up on having a local RSS reader. I looked for a self-hosted web one, but didn't find one that I liked. So I setup a dovecot IMAP server and use feed2imap-go to sync my RSS feeds to IMAP folders. Now I can use email clients on my machines to access my RSS feeds in a synchronized manner.

Looking for perfection
Depending on what you need: Feed2Imap-Go offers to store RSS feeds as mails. That offers you to use any mail reader that you like (be it mobile or be it on PC).
-
RSS Readers that can do sub-folders
Shameless self-promote: https://github.com/Necoro/feed2imap-go
-
What RSS reader do you use?
Shameless self-promotion: I use feed2imap-go that stores the RSS items as mails. I then use different mail clients to actually read them.
-
What are some privacy concerned RSS readers?
For instance, I've developed https://github.com/Necoro/feed2imap-go which uploads the feeds unto an IMAP account. Given you host the mail server yourself, there is no other party involved at all.
-
How can I get email notifications when new item released on RSS Feed?
Yet another self-promotion: I have written feed2imap-go. This is a self-hosted software, that converts rss feeds to mails. Stuff like polling frequency/filtering is configurable.
