Global Menus Distro?
HelloSystem is an interesting design that is intended to be just the kind of interface you're wanting. The author is critical of modern user interface design and advocates the Macintosh interface. It's interesting stuff to consider. Hellosystem is based on FreeBSD and is not ready for users (and may eventually be a FreeBSD desktop, not a Linux distro).

HelloSystem – OS with original Mac philosophy with a modern architecture
Are you suggesting they should have chosen Wayland? I think they have a good argument against it:
"Wayland: Under development since a long time, it offers no clear advantage over Xorg while it makes things more complicated (e.g, breaks screen recording) --> Use Xorg instead, or (maybe even better) no X server at all but pure framebuffer (like *ELEC does for media centers). XFCE 4.18 Released
> Custom Actions
> It is now possible to arrange custom actions in cascading submenus. Just enter the same submenu name for a custom action in order to place it into the same menu. If you require multiple menu levels, you can achieve that by using '/' in the path of the 'Submenu' entry.*
In 2012 KDE AppMenu Runner was presented as a "plugin which allows to browse, search and select the menubar of the active application".[0]
In 2019 I requested to somehow implement a feature, similar to Blender's "Menu Search"/"Operator Search"[1], into Olive Video Editor.[2]
After it "Action Search" was implemented into Olive Video Editor ('/') shortcut, its code was reused for "Action Search" in Scribus ('Ctrl+/') and then converted into Qt5-plugin.[3,4]
Year later, this Qt5-plugin code reused in for implementing global "Action Search" in helloSystem FreeBSD distribution.[5]
Then "Search and Run a Command" ('/') was added into GIMP.[6]
Guess, GIMP's implementation may be used for other GTK-based apps too (especially Inkscape, which still has no such feature).

Svelte and abandonware?
Minor correction, svelte repl is in sites repo, and it's well maintained and updated.
-
Is there a less-hacky way of using d3-graphviz with svelte?
I found this GitHub issue that feels relevant to the Svelte REPL issue. It sounds like unpkg doesn't successfully resolve the dependency due to differences between CJS and ESM.
-
How can I render Svelte HTML (from a variable) AND compile it
You'd need to bundle the svelte compiler, then feed the compiled output of your string through a worker containing a browser build of rollup to bundle all of the internal dependencies. Have a look at https://github.com/sveltejs/sites/tree/master/packages/repl if you really want to go through with this.

Show HN: Hacker News Clone Using Remix and React
Here's one built with Svelte: https://hn.svelte.dev/
It's not exactly an apples-to-apples comparison for a number of reasons including implementation and hosting differences, but might be interesting to people anyway. The code lives here: https://github.com/sveltejs/sites/tree/master/sites/hn.svelt...
-
run svelte.dev and kit.svelte.dev on local
Assuming you cloned https://github.com/sveltejs/sites, then you need to cd into sites/ (https://github.com/sveltejs/sites/tree/master/sites) and then into the site you want. Afterwards just follow the instructions in the README (usually pnpm i and pnpm run dev).
-
Why is the Svelte homepage using React?
I'm pretty sure it's just your extension misbehaving. Here is the like to the repo: https://github.com/sveltejs/sites/tree/master/sites/svelte.dev

The Svelte homepage got a redesign!
Hm, it works for me (iOS). Might be worth opening an issue on the site repo with the issue you’re seeing.
-
planning to learn svelte for front-end, need advice
the kit.svelte.dev site is also fully open source, but it uses a lot of components which handle almost everything also uses api.svelte.dev, a non-svelte site to get all the data so I don't know how helpful that is either
