Package Authors: Zero-config building cross-platform wheels for publishing to PyPI
There's been a long-standing open issue in the community to develop a generic wheel-building service (https://github.com/psf/fundable-packaging-improvements/issues/19) that makes generating consistent, secure, cross-platform wheels simple for all authors.

3 New Malicious Packages Found on PyPI
PyPI is still very much a work in progress, and very community driven. This work takes time, but it seems like security is one of the top priorities of the PSF. I really want PyPI to support namespaces for packages so no malicious actors can squat on project names (like Github orgs). PSF has a fundables page where they are seeking funding to add features to the python packaging ecosystem.

Things I Like about Python
I would research what the PSF Packaging Working group is doing in this area. I do know they have a list of priority work they are seeking funding for here:

Am I the only annoyed by the lack of native/solid way to generate binaries for Python programs?
I know it may sound like "use the right tool for the job rather than complain" but I'm saddened to see how little care has been given by the PSF over the years about binary distribution of programs. Bizarrely, it doesn't even seem under their radar.
