Scene with vector maps in 2D and 3D
I'm also currently working on a 3d map with OSM data at work. I would HIGHLY recommend you to use Godot for this. It is far(!) easier to develop and there is even an example project with shapefiles https://github.com/RodZill4/godot-openstreetmap. Also read about f32 floating point predictions that occur with coordinates that are about 5km away from the origin.

made it! i used the amazing blender add-on Blender-OSM to get the job done. the advantage there is you get to decide how tall the buildings are n that. the most annoying part is slicing up the model once you have it. https://github.com/vvoovv/blender-osm
