How to set up GitHub with Visual Studio Code

By now, you should’ve created a GitHub account and have Git installed. If you haven’t done that, then head over here. Once you’re done, head over to the Repositories section and click on “New”.

Make small prototypes to test these implementations out, learn to use git (see: Working with Git and GameMaker Studio 2) sooner rather than later.

Git installation is pretty straightforward; just head on to the site and install it according to your OS. It has no prerequisites. Make sure that you also have your Git Bash with the bundle. Git Bash is basically a terminal that is a bit personalized for Git. Windows users are recommended to use it over your cmd/powershell. Although the VSCode terminal is also very supportive.

Make sure youve deleted your current app of the wineskin mod before doing this: Firstly to do this youll need to download homebrew to your computer (how to do this is shown immediately on their website - https://brew.sh/ ), youll be doing this in the terminal (found in the utilities folder inside applications). As its installing youll find close to the end it will prompt you to run another line of code, make sure you dont miss this, just do as it says. After thats done you can run the "brew install..." line found in the wineskin README.md, and it should work through it, after its finished it will be downloaded as an app in your applications folder - should hopefully work from there.
Automating macOS setup
reddit.com/r/macsysadmin | 2021-10-13
I don't have much experience managing macOS in a professional setting (mostly just writing automation one-liners). But a simple way to automate setup would be to create a GitHub repo and include the setup script (below) and the company wallpaper. There are a LOT of casks (macOS native applications) and formulae (command line apps, built from source), so check Homebrew for apps you want to install.

Is linux environment similar to Mac environment?
reddit.com/r/MacOS | 2021-10-12
Brew is a good starting place. It is a package manager like apt. Then you can instal GNU coreutils, make, etc. Many utilities that come with macOS are from 2004 or even older due to licensing. If you want to use bash, install the GNU version, append /usr/local/bin/bash to sudo nano /etc/shells then change the default shell: chsh -s /usr/local/bin/bashreddit.com/r/MacOS | 2021-10-12
