fonoster VS twilio-node

OSS Alternative to Twilio

There's a service that's open source for full on features if that helps, here it is: https://fonoster.com/

You can probably use Twilio for this, but it's a paid service. The only alternative I'm aware of is Fonoster, but that's a JavaScript API - and I have no clue if it actually works.

I was looking at maybe trying to use a softphone to receive calls from an Android phone. Is there any way to do this? I'm looking at maybe trying something like https://github.com/fonoster/fonoster (self-hosted twilio) aswell.

Are you referring to the twilio-node package?

Upgrade the Twilio Node Helper library to a more recent version, https://github.com/twilio/twilio-node/blob/main/CHANGES.md

This code returns an initialized Twilio REST Helper Library, gets the inbound request (which will contain the viewed header we will soon set in the Segment console) and sets it as a variable called body, makes the to and from variables (my personal phone number hidden as an environment variable and a Twilio number), and then sends an outbound text message when the Twilio Function is hit (when my website is viewed.)

This is definatly the best option, their docs are hella robust and they have a helper library for it (https://github.com/twilio/twilio-node).
