Flutter on a bare bone Raspberry Pi sounds interesting but I doubt that this will be come an official additional platform so it's probably just a fun experiment that exists for a couple of years now.

I have a RPi 4 with dedicated camera module (with ribbon connector) and I need to access and control this camera using Dart+Flutter. I use flutter-pi (https://github.com/ardera/flutter-pi) but I'm not sure what package/plugin should I use to achieve this task. I found "camera" plugin (https://pub.dev/packages/camera) but it looks like it's more for mobile applications and I'm afraid that it will not work in my case. Is there any preferred way to do this?

First thing to do is to set up the Raspberry Pi. In the README of the flutter-pi repo it's mentioned that flutter-pi should run without Xserver. Therefore I went with a headless version of RaspberryOS. Once you've flashed the os to a ssd card, follow the instructions in the flutter-pi README and install drivers for your touch screen of choice. Be sure to clone the engine-binaries branch of flutter-pi and place the files in the correct directories aswell.

My higher education institution has bought every generation of these for Digital Signage since 2014. We use an open-source (abandonware?) Ruby project called Concerto[1] to generate webpages, and the Chrome OS Kiosk Mode[2] feature to boot these things straight to chrome-less full-screen web browsers that load Concerto webpages. It's a nice setup, but I do worry about the future support of both of those pillars.

You could take a look at Concerto. A group of RPI students developed it to use as their campus signage system. I’ve deployed it twice before and it’s a pretty flexible system, you can add images, announcements, sync with an iCal. You can even add multiple users with different permissions (high school staff can only manage the high school sign).
