Flex Launcher if you have multiple applications/programs, else you can directly launch your streaming app at startup.

Looking for an HTPC software solution.
One option I still have to try is Flex Launcher, in my current setup, if Kodi crashes for some reason, I'm stuck on a desktop that doesn't really work with my remote control or game controller and I don't keep a keyboard within easy reach.

Flex Launcher might work for you. It's a desktop application (not browser based), but you can use Chrome shortcuts to open your desired sites.

Unfortunately, the world of Home Theatre (HTPC) Frontends is limited. You can use something like Flex Launcher to relatively easily build your own.

Bigscreen: Several questions...
If Plasma Bigscreen doesn't work for you, another option to consider is Flex Launcher. It's a TV-style launcher like Plasma Bigscreen that is Raspberry Pi compatible, but it doesn't depend on KDE. Its user interface is very simple, just some icons and text on the screen.

I'm guessing your issue is the same as this. I just implemented a fix for it and it will be in the next release, version 1.3. It should be available in a few hours, check back tomorrow morning.

Looking for an HTPC software solution.
I have a setup similar to what you want. I used ubuntu LTS minimal but you could use any distro that's has recent mesa and drivers. Kodi works well as a front end and you can use this to make your own add on to launch scripts from within kodi https://github.com/funcy2267/kodi-script-launcher
