Is it feasible to host my own 75 era server with trust support for myself and a few friends to play on? If even possible at all.

If you want to disable expansions it's just a case of setting the relevant 1 to a 0 in the settings.lua in scripts/global. You can also enable and disable trusts there as well.

Eden July 29th 2021 Update Details
Wings didn't actually write any of the Assault code, it was contributed by a third party contributor from another server. (Here's their commit.) I don't really know if it's based off of KnowOne's code or not, but even if it is, KnowOne makes his stuff public for a reason. Either way, Desmoth isn't a Wings dev, just a contributor.

Possible trojan on Eden's server?
During all of this, the actual loader they published to users was NOT the same one that was posted on their Github at the time. The previous linked loader wasn't the same one that was being distributed and was on a different persons private Github altogether. (The one that is now deleted.) The actual code wasn't made public either until AFTER all this drama happened, with the update commit being pushed 02/28/2020 which included all the new name check garbage. Again, after the drama happened. That repo is now deleted, however I still have a copy of it if people are curious, there is also a fork here: https://github.com/kjl2y/xiloader
