I could use your help solving these 480 visual patterns problems in Python.
1 project | reddit.com/r/learnprogramming | 2 Jan 2022
The website has 480 small challenges to identify the given pattern. I'm putting together a Python module that consists of unit tests for each of the problems, similar to what Exercism.io does. The challenge to programmers is to write a function that, given iteration x of the pattern, returns the number of objects at that iteration and a string representation that visualizes the pattern.

Exercism's Elixir track is great and the mentors there are often helpful. I recommend giving it a go.

Maybe have everyone do the same python challenge from exercism.io and discuss? They're designed to be interesting, small problems that help novice Python coders write more Python-y code.

The main difficulty here is the web scraping and less data analysis or visualisation, once you have the data you need a chart like this could be done in Excel. For something more complex, there are many alternatives but keeping with the python theme you could use pandas and matplotlib. A decent free introduction to those tools I can recommend is Python Data Science Handbook by Jake VanderPlas. Running your code inside a Jupyter Notebook will make things easier as you can break up your program into small parts called “cells”, examine their output then make any needed changes without having to run the whole program again. There are lots of ways to set it up, one being inside Visual Studio Code which (should) handle installing Jupyter and/or Python for you from what I remember.
