Nethermind has the two flags --Sync.AncientBodiesBarrier and --Sync.AncientReceiptsBarrier. By default, they are set to 11052984 as you can see here. The downloaded chain is smaller with the barrier set this way, but some automated setups like eth-docker set these barriers to 1.

So a lot of love for yorickdowne for his github and all he is doing in the ethstaker discord and elsewhere. I have not seen if he has a gitcoin grant. I will definitely donate.
