Intergrate the character sheet into UI?
Have you tried Argon from Ripper? It's a nice UI for players that eliminates most of the need for the character sheet. And it can be resized, auto hidden, and generally customized. https://github.com/theripper93/enhancedcombathud

I've ran a campaign in Foundry for about 18 months and I still don't see the benefit for the macrobar. Help?
Yeah, we use Argon - Combat HUD during combat, which makes things insanely easy, and have the macro bar shrunk to not be visible by default. The only thing I ever really use the macro bar for is saving presets for map weather, and a couple macros to get active tile related things to work when setting up maps. None of us ever really use it much in actual play.

Handy 5e Modules List
foundryvtt-drag-ruler - his module shows a ruler when you drag a token or measurement template to inform you how far you've dragged it from its start point. Additionally, if you're using a grid, the spaces the token will travel though will be colored depending on your tokens speed. By default, three colors are being used: green for spaces that your token can reach by walking normally are colored green, spaces that can only be reached by dashing will be colored yellow and spaces that cannot be reached with the token's speed will be colored red. If you're using a gridless map the ruler color will change to convey this information.

At long last it's here: Drag Ruler for Foundry v10
I've just released Drag Ruler v1.13.0, which is the first official Drag Ruler version to support Foundry v10. A lot of code had to be changed for this release, so it's quite possible that some bugs have crept in that weren't present in Drag Ruler v1.12. If you find anything, please report it in the Drag Ruler bug tracker.

Enhanced Terrain Layer not working properly
The module uses Drag Ruler iirc as it's source of measurement. Drag Ruler does not work with V10. There is an interim update (not released by the Drag Ruler author) but not sure if it works with ETL
