dockerfiles VS elasticsearch

I believe the version of the container I am using was built from this: https://github.com/elastic/dockerfiles/blob/8.1/elasticsearch/Dockerfile

The easiest way to get started with Elasticsearch is to use the Elastic Cloud service. You can also run Elasticsearch locally using Docker.

hi all, installed elasticsearch cluster, and kibana, via the docker compose example found here: https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/docker.html and the cluster and Kibana are working as expected.

I've started with the docker-compose example from the elastic documentation added a few things like restart on failure, but unsure what else to worry about.

We have been using an ES docker image that has been pretty hands off for ~2 years. Elastic has good doc on how to do this here: https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/docker.html

That would work, but then you copy everything, along with the container itself. There is a way to just copy the data over. From the page https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/docker.html, I see that /usr/share/elasticsearch/data is where the persistent data is kept within the container.
