For DSP, we already can do that using something like Easy Effects[1][2].

The biggest issue is acquiring proper impulse-response data. In theory, it has to be tuned per-model, so turning basically require pro-grade equipment and a recording studio. However, apparently many people assume Dolby is using the same profile for all laptops, so just copy-paste the same file here and there. Not really sure which is the real case.

Anyways, Asahi can ship DSP turned on by default because the distro is specific to Apple. That's how Apple boosts the quality of its hardware, and the same applies to a distro dedicated to it.

EasyEffects could be a replacement for EqualizerAPO. You can do some gain staging there if you want, as well as a bunch of other stuff.

Is this a general comment meant to apply to anything or are you specifically talking about Easy Effects here?

It has installation instructions in the README, links to a wiki page with more information (https://github.com/wwmm/easyeffects/wiki/Package-Repositorie...), the application contains full documentation under the "Help" item in the menu (as many applications do) and they also have the same documentation online (https://wwmm.github.io/easyeffects/).

Not sure what more you could ask for?

They will stay unchanged. It is easier right now to get a semi-decent 720p webcam than a good 2MP cam. Also, give Pulseeffects a try, we have already set up an audio profile for the Pulse 15. Using that, the Pulse already has one of the better speakers in our portfolio. The profile is not perfect, since it can lead to slight distortions on certain frequencies, like any equalizer-setting it is not suited for everything, but it will boost the lower frequency and enhance stereo separation. If you experience audible "vibrations" through the case, feel free to untighten the bottom cover screws very slightly in the speaker area. If they are too tight, it will vibrate audibly more.

You can try something with PulseEffects but I couldn't find a very good combination. There is a git repository from Tuxedo: https://github.com/tuxedocomputers/pulseeffects-presets . In addition, you can enable "Convolver" and import one of these IRS (Impulse Response) files: https://github.com/eedeidk/PulseAudio-IRSs/tree/master/IRS . Share your results if you find a good one.

u/_Loxley Do you mean speakers with more bass or at a different position? Have you tried PulseEffects? https://github.com/tuxedocomputers/pulseeffects-presets There is no preset yet for the Pro 14 v6. But you should be able to get a more clear and louder sound after some tweaking.
