DZGUI server browser and mod manager for DayZ on Linux
GITHUB PAGE
- DayZ on a steam deck looks very nice
- So I finally installed DayZ on my Steam Deck and now I get little to no time for sleep and life in general.
- DZGUI 3.0.0 (Linux DayZ server tool): Adds official server support, server browser, auto mod installation
-
DZGUI 2.6.0: adds connect-by-ip, extended Steam Deck support, improved initial setup
So if you have any questions or concerns, please file a report. Thanks.
DZGUI allows you to connect to modded/community DayZ servers on Linux and provides a graphical interface for doing so. This overcomes certain limitations in the Linux client and helps prepare the game to launch by doing the following:
- Has anyone tried to play DayZ with mods on the steam deck? How does it work?
-
Workshop mods on steam deck
If you're willing to tinker around a bit, you could try getting DZGUI to work. Took me a bit to do it, but it works great once I figured it out :) https://github.com/aclist/dztui/tree/dzgui

HTC Vive on dual boot with Windows and EndeavourOS
As for making Bluetooth power management work under Linux, I use this script to automatically turn the base stations on and off. Note that Bluetooth functionality isn't entirely out of the question for SteamVR Linux, and the Index is already supported as of earlier this year. There's no official comment about the Vive (nor the Index actually), but it'll probably happen. Eventually.

Valve Index and Linux Audio Issue
There is steamvr_utils script https://github.com/DavidRisch/steamvr_utils which changes audio output and turns on/off basestations. But it's not working properly if you're using pipewire instead pulseaudio (for me at least)

Does VR run on Linux and how is the G2?
For instance, the index base stations don't go into standby automatically, and the bluetooth layer in the linux version of SteamVR just doesn't function, so currently I rely on https://github.com/DavidRisch/steamvr_utils to set my lighthouses into standby when I'm not using them. It's a pain, but it works!

Those of you who are dual-booting, what games or applications would it take for you to delete that windows partition?
I recently got steam VR to work really well, using this.
-
Worth buying Valve Index if exclusively running Ubuntu?
I wrote a python program to do that on Linux: https://github.com/DavidRisch/steamvr_utils
-
After a decade Windows-free, I'm suddenly in possession of a Valve Index. Should I bite the bullet and install a Windows partition?
Yeah, that graphics card is what's slowing the experience down, I don't think you'd see any difference using Windows. As for the audio, try using this: https://github.com/DavidRisch/steamvr_utils
