Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

Hey there, I am using xsecurelock (https://github.com/google/xsecurelock, xsecurelock-git from AUR) since a while and I am very happy with it. I would like to go further with fingerprint authentication. I know how PAM works, rode the README but I am afraid to screw it up and get locked out.

Google's XSecureLock seems to be a good minimal alternative. As the name suggest, it's focused on security. For the screen-saving part it can utilize a number of program, including xscreensaver.

I'm surprised he doesn't mention XSecureLock. Its entire focus is on preventing issues like this with modularity and redundancy.
