- "Automatically Create CNAME records for containers served by Traefik" (Cloudflare)
-
Looking for automation of generic tasks
II donโt think this exists for NPM but I use Traefik with https://github.com/tiredofit/docker-traefik-cloudflare-companion which creates DNS entries automatically and Flame dashboard with Docker integration (https://github.com/pawelmalak/flame) which adds new services automatically in my dashboard.
- What reverse proxy are you running / recommending?
-
Home server - Why Docker and VMโs?
For my reverse proxy I am using Traefik 2 with Authelia as my 2 factor authentication. It works with TOTP and my YubiKey. to compliment this when I add the correct labels to my compose snippet for the respective service, tiredofit's cloudflare traefik companion container will use my cloudflare API key to update my cname records to reflect the subdomain based off my traefik labels. All of my docker containers use docker secrets for important environment variables.

Omg.lol: An Oasis on the Internet
I just self host stuff on my domain and link them to a Flame dashboard for family and friends.
https://github.com/pawelmalak/flame
Dashboard is only accessible by my wireguard network, Which they can turn the LAN mode on on, so it doesn't route all their traffic, just to the local domain.

How to store docker secrets for Flame?
I'm trying to set up Flame for my Docker Network, but I don't understand how to use secrets properly.

Cache Flame configuration to improve speed?
I really like Flame and I use it for my dashboard using custom labels on the docker-file.

Making your homelab more accessible to "end users"
I use flame start page for this.
-
How to reach a docker app without using OPEN VPN.
Hey, I don't know how much help I will be with item one, so hopefully someone else is able to chime in with some insight. But, for item two, you are looking for a dashboard. There are a lot of options for dashboards out there, but I personally like and use Flame. Then you map the services you want to it.
What are some alternatives?
authelia - The Single Sign-On Multi-Factor portal for web apps
Heimdall - An Application dashboard and launcher
Portainer - Making Docker and Kubernetes management easy.
homer - A very simple static homepage for your server.
full-stack-fastapi-template - Full stack, modern web application template. Using FastAPI, React, SQLModel, PostgreSQL, Docker, GitHub Actions, automatic HTTPS and more.
dashy - ๐ A self-hostable personal dashboard built for you. Includes status-checking, widgets, themes, icon packs, a UI editor and tons more!
dozzle - Realtime log viewer for docker containers.
homarr - Customizable browser's home page to interact with your homeserver's Docker containers (e.g. Sonarr/Radarr)
cloudflare-ddns - A script to update your Cloudflare DNS records at a glance.
sui - a startpage for your server and / or new tab page
cloudflare-ddns - ๐๐ฉ๏ธ Dynamic DNS (DDNS) service based on Cloudflare! Access your home network remotely via a custom domain name without a static IP!
