Is connecting Django to MS SQL too much of a bad idea?
Now that the driver is supported by MS themselves ( which is here ) - it's easy street. Heck, even when it wasn't "officially supported", it still worked.

While I haven't used it since my new company doesn't use MS SQL, Microsoft has their own library for this.

Ansible Tower with SQL DB
So going with non postures would invalidate support today, note next version of tower will be postgresql 12, now that being said MS has been developing Azure MSSQL for Tower. https://github.com/microsoft/mssql-django
