I must say I had been kinda ambivalent about OpenSCAD until now, but I discovered SolidPython and am absolutely delighted. This is what I had hoped OpenSCAD would be.
Yes, some tasks are easier when using for loops. For example, the random_points in my voronoi_vase.py.

If you're using python then you can use something like https://github.com/daavoo/pyntcloud to manipulate / render from different angles. If you're using c++ try https://pointclouds.org/
