    If you're already using Cockpit, the company 45 Drives makes a decent front end for Samba (which will take care of SMB shares for you). Otherwise, you can read up on Samba and edit /etc/samba/smb.conf by hand to add your shares and set authorization. Permissions are related to the individual files' permissions, so if you want everyone in a group called household to be able to access the information, make sure that group has access from the shell.

    I think moving package selection out of the installer is the right choice. It's best to get you to a full running system you can customize as quickly as possible. If you have a special use case, make a kickstart file, or look at cockpit composer. If you have a special case that you think a lot of people share, propose a new Fedora spin!
