Saving Energy: Home Server That Automatically Suspends to RAM and Wakes Up Again
I wrote something remarkably similar a few years ago, for similar reasons. I was pretty baffled that nothing similar already existed. Auto-wake with the RTC timer was what I really wanted.

I have a "NAS", which is really an enormous desktop tower crammed full of hard drives. It auto-wakes once per day, pulls backups from my various servers all over the place, then returns to sleep.

macOS Command-Line Tools You Might Not Know About
It's not something that I've tried. There was a user report at the bottom of this GitHub issue that states sidecar rotation does not work.

Install DisplayPlacer. I use it along with Alfred (but you can trigger it many different ways). It's great for multi-monitor setups.

Run AppleScript to change display arrangement.
You can't do it with AppleScript, but there are other scripting options. A handy utility already exists though called DisplayPlacer. If you install that homebrew package, you can then create a shortcut to call SSH scripts. You'd even be able to save different display arrangements in the shortcut and call a specific one depending on where you place your iPad that day.

Tip for if you're using 3440x1440 displays with macOS
I’ve gave up solving the issue, but I do get around the issue by making use of https://github.com/jakehilborn/displayplacer and assigning it to a hot key via Automator.
