cinnamon VS asus-fan-control

Many mobile apps are written in JS/TS with React Native.

Linux desktop environments like Cinnamon [1] also use JavaScript for the UI. Linux Mint with Cinnamon is invariably among the top 3 Linux desktop distributions (on distrowatch [2]).

If anything, stats probably don't accurately capture how ubiquitous JS is.

I agree that there is a balance between customization and "cleanness" in design and implementation.

When a designer's "coherent vision" eclipses the needs of the software's users then users get frustrated and either fork the project or go to another project. MATE (https://mate-desktop.org/), Cinnamon (https://github.com/linuxmint/Cinnamon), and Unity (https://unityd.org/) exist largely because of how far the GNOME 3 designers went and how they were not willing to compromise their "coherent vision":

I'm not sure what the devs want to see in a case like this, but I'd try to report it either on the LinuxMint-Forums or on the cinnamon issue tracker on github.

And I read Cinnamon being not yet out with a Wayland session as meaning that it’s in the works, but according to the Cinnamon team, “We still don't have any specific plans for implementing Wayland support…and we're not in a hurry to do so” (https://github.com/linuxmint/cinnamon/issues/10787)

Mind you, it's much easier to crash a Wayland compositor than an X11 window manager because so much more has to be done in the compositor process; Cinnamon devs mentioned this flaw as a major reason they won't support Wayland yet, because if a panel widget crashes, it will also crash the entire desktop.

I tried a few searches through open cinnamon issues but nothing really stood out yet OTOH, I know some of the recent changes to Nemo/Cinnamon had caused issues which I've run into myself in F37 (such as the new themes, some Nemo drag-and-drop issues, and another issue with Nemo's input focus when clicking the toolbar button to a new folder while you are renaming a file) so still plausible this could be a Cinnamon-specific bug.

First, no way to ajust fan curve in the BIOS. We already tried Asus Fan Control, nbfc-linux and both didn't worked.

Hi there! I recently switched over from windows 11 to kde neon (windows wasnt cutting it for my purposes), and I noticed that I have no way to control my asus vivobook pro 14 oled (m3401) fan controls. I did fix up the issues with battery capacity controls with tools like TLP, but I have not been able to control the fan speed (i wanna make it go fast cuz im not exactly comfortable at 99C during large compiles (im a student, and i kinda need to run compiles on the move)). On windows I was just able to use the MyAsus app and use the performance profile for my fans but I can't do that here because of no MyAsus. I found this wonderful tool called asus-fan-control, sadly it does not support AMD CPUs (I opened a ticket, which if you wanna check out, https://github.com/dominiksalvet/asus-fan-control/issues/120 is the link). What would be a way I can get around this issue? i don't wanna have to repaste this laptop anytime soon (maybe at least run it for 2 years before i end up repasting it). I did not run into such high temps on windows (probably because MyAsus took care of it), but I can't (and don't want to) switch back to windows because I am more familiar to linux than I am to windows (not to mention, it is more convenient for my projects).

Also surprised you didn't find asus-fan-control (https://github.com/dominiksalvet/asus-fan-control) considering I found it in a two second search and it says it supports the FX505.

Check out https://github.com/dominiksalvet/asus-fan-control and https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/fan_speed_control#ASUS_laptops for fan management utils. As stated in another comment, TLP can set battery saving thresholds.

So i went to https://github.com/dominiksalvet/asus-fan-control#install to install a fan control app but one of the dependencies is a kernel module any idea how to install it or an alternative to this app that works on fedora
