Interestingly we wanted the API to use GraphQL but due to some technical debt we couldn't do that so we created own solution https://github.com/Pobble/pragmatic_ql therefore the API is written in pure Rails render json: { } like described in article https://blog.eq8.eu/article/rspec-json-api-testing.html
