From a quick read of the model used [0], it seems simulate neurons and muscles at a functional level (not atoms or cells).

If meshCODE theory was correct what would the implications be for cryonics?
First, regarding C. Elegans mind uploading, I agree, it's frustrating that having its connectome wasn't enough, but I think K. Hayworth pointed out that its neurons are actually less well understood and in some ways harder to study than human neurons, among other reasons because they don't spike. I can't find the Hayworth quote, but for instance there's the c302 paper (mentioned in the Openworm github repo):
