Micropython RFM9x LoRa - How to even send a packet?
I don't believe there is any native LoRa support or convenience libraries for MicroPython. However with today's release of a shim to use CircuitPython libraries with MicroPython by Adafruit, see https://learn.adafruit.com/circuitpython-libraries-on-micropython-using-the-raspberry-pi-pico for that, your best route might be to try and use that and my CircuitPython code, https://github.com/aallan/pico-lorawan-circuitpython.
What are some alternatives?
