Nvidia Shield not respecting DNS settings
Termux wont respect the DNS settings of the host. You need to set it for termux. If you want to test if your NVS is using pihole, use a browser and browse some website, check your pihole log to see if pihole recieves it. Or you could visit https://blockads.fivefilters.org/ for a quick confirm.

This site Block Ads! Adblock test (fivefilters.org) always showed adblocking enabled although i had ublock with 5-10 custom anti block-adblock filters and 10-15 extra adblock and block-blockadblock scripts running in tampermonkey but the above site always showed adblocking enabled . Its source code is open source so any site could copy its way of detection.

- So I got a Brave ad while on Brave, when it's literally meant to block ads. So either this browser is a scam or their ad-blocker shut down.
