The number of mentions indicates the total number of mentions that we've tracked plus the number of user suggested alternatives.
Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

bitcode 0.4 release - binary serialization format
bitcode is a new binary serialization format that aims to minimize size while maintaining competitive speed. Since our initial post, we've added a derive macro which unlocks more performance and control than was possible with serde.

Best format for high-performance Serde?
Consider checking out DLHN, a data serialization format I created: https://github.com/otake84/dlhn
- I made a blazing fast and small new data serialization format called "DLHN" in Rust.
What are some alternatives?
When comparing bitcode and dlhn you can also consider the following projects:

serde-ndim - Serde support for n-dimensional arrays from self-describing formats
serde-partial - Serde partial serialization made easy
serde_ub_json - UBJSON serialization for Rust using Serde
serde - Serialization framework for Rust
nachricht - A self-describing data interchange format
